NYU Data Services – enable, foster and support geospatial research at NYU
In today’s academic landscape, Geospatial Support Services play a vital role in advancing research, teaching, and institutional operations. This talk will explore the transformative potential of GIS literacy, enabling faculty, students, and researchers to leverage spatial data for insightful analysis, innovative, data-driven solutions, and informed decision-making. From hands-on project guidance to integrating GIS into multidisciplinary research, these services support a wide range of academic pursuits—from urban planning and environmental science to public health and beyond.
Bio:
Himanshu (Him) Mistry is the Assistant Director and Co-head of NYU Data Services. Him has over 20 years of experience in planning, design, GIS and data analytics. Him actively promotes and advises on geospatial technology and data-driven research in teaching and scholarship at NYU and beyond. He previously worked as a City Planner-Urban Designer at the NYC Department of City Planning.
