…Inocencio Casanova, a Cuban plantation owner and leader of Free Cuba bought his Hunts Point mansion in 1867 to help supply munitions to the Cuban revolution. The mansion was located near the site of P.S. 62 (660 Fox Street, Bronx), an elementary school that bears his name.
…Ballet Hispanico, located at 167 West 89th Street in Manhattan, was founded in 1970 and is now the largest Latinx cultural organization in the United States and one of America’s Cultural Treasures.
…The first Spanish Evangelical Church, serving congregants from Spain, Cuba and Puerto Rico, was founded in 1912 at Madison Square Church.
